A new video released Jan. 7 takes viewers behind-the-scenes at Asheville’s Echo Mountain Recording studio as Seth Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield make an album of Elliott Smith songs.
The artists’ mutual love of songwriter Elliott Smith brought them together for the project.
“I think for Jessica and I it’s just a matter of loving the songs, and genuinely loving singing them. They’re so good, that there’s a joy to singing them, even if the topics are dark sometimes,” says Avett, who’s also producing the record.
Three years in the making, it’s slated for a March 17 release.
