• What he’s wearing: An oversized pinstripe suit jacket with a sober button-down, vintage fedora and tie and bright red pants to keep the look from getting too serious.

Designer R. Brooke Priddy is fashioning not only beautiful dresses in her West Asheville shop, Ship to Shore, but also beautiful music. In May she held a performance collaboration with musician Josephine Foster, who strummed the harp while Priddy styled a dress around her, creating a duet with the sewing machine. The evening began with Foster in a 12-foot train that reached to the walls and ended with the musician in the calf-length gown pictured.
Foster returns for a second avant-garde show at Ship to Shore Shop on Saturday, Nov. 11. Will another dress result? Is this the future of fashion? Could runways soon be fused with concerts, giving new meaning to rock star (or, for that matter, folk star) fashion? Hopefully. Local experimental guitarist Bill Coonan opens the 9 p.m. performance, and the cover is $6. Info at 242-1378 or call Harvest Records at 258-2999.
