Happy Goth
![]() |
• Who they are: Chelsea Brooks and Anita Altschul
• What they’re wearing: On Chelsea, a green-and-black bustier worn over a lavender tank and wide-leg pants she made from fabric purchased at Foam & Fabric. “I want them to be huge Goth pants, only really happy,” Chelsea explains. On Anita, Austrian crystal necklace handmade by a relative, green Victorian-style tee from Charlotte Russe.
• Why we love it: Goth-meets-hippie-chick (bold colors, softer fabrics) is a fun fusing of styles. Both Chelsea and Anita mix time periods and trends to suit their own fashion sense, and it works. Hopefully we’ll see more of these wildly patterned oversized pants around town.

Sassy-swimwear sighting at Spiritex (61 1/2 N. Lexington, 254-8949). Remember the 1970s version of the crocheted two-piece? Well, local designer Amy Mozingo’s bikinis are an updated version, fashioned from strips of silk in bright colors like yellow, red and black. Bonus: The weave is tight enough to prevent see-through. To care for the silk, rinse in cold water after swimming. $99.
