The street is her runway

Karenina Brooks

• Who she is: Karenina Brooks

• What she’s wearing: Necklace from “a cheap store in the mall,” as she puts it; red low-cut top, from a mall store featuring club-inspired clothing; black skirt given to her by a friend; pants from Express; and sleeves cut from a shirt she bought at Rugged Wearhouse.

• Why we love it: Karenina is model-tall and can pull off elegant evening-wear as Lexington Avenue day-wear. Black and red adds drama, and sleek, long lines render the overall effect far more sophisticated than its mall beginnings would imply.

Try this on

As part of the Southern Highland Craft Guild’s Fiber Weekend, the Folk Art Center shows off the best in wearable art with a Fashion Passion runway show. The show will be held Sunday, May 14 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Entrance is free; info at 298-7928.
