Singer/songwriter Angi West (www.angiwest.com) is a relative newcomer to the Asheville music scene. She released her debut album, Orange Thread in a Blue Sea, late last year, and has been racking up local dates at BoBo Gallery and The Grey Eagle (as well as the name-dropping-worthy Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, Ga.). But soulful songwriting aside (her folky tones are reminiscent of Joan Baez), West’s inimitable style is perfect for the stage. Drawing on influences as far-reaching as Warhol muse Edie Sedgwick, the yogis of India, and her fellow Asheville artists, her outfits seem to tell stories about where she’s been and who she’s becoming.
