A handbag’s tale
Most shops are mired in the no-man’s-land of winter sales—that bleak time between holiday gift gluttony and shiny new spring lines. But don’t despair: A new handbag can breathe life back into a winter-weary wardrobe, and there are plenty of interesting finds to be had.
Second-hand news: a Fendi bag at Excellent Seconds (959 Merrimon Ave., #4, 251-2332); a vintage patent-leather pocketbook and a L’Oneil art bag at Rags Reborn Eco Chic Boutique (1 Walnut St., 253-4488).
The very fabric: a Maruca tapestry satchel at Amore (58 N. Lexington Ave., 236-0072); hemp messenger bags by Splaff at Spiritex (61 1/2 N. Lexington Ave., 254-8949).
Brighten up: a cheerful aqua hobo at Kenneth Mack’s Jewelry & Fine Art Gallery (10 Wall St., 258-1855); a green leather satchel at News of the Blue Sky (32 N. Lexington Ave., 255-8844).
