Monday: Lotion is the Monday night resident band at Mo Daddy’s. Billing itself as “aggressive lounge” (figure that one out), the group includes local jazz artists Joey K. (pictured), Rob G. and Duane. Every Monday, 9 p.m., free.
Tuesday: The Prids a rock band originally from Missouri but lately from Portland, Ore. are currently on tour — a tour which brings them to Pulp. They’ll share the stage with local bands Space Medicine and The South French Broads. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 8 p.m., $3.
Wednesday: Sangita Devi kirtan leader Renjith Iya presents another take on world and spiritual music: World Music Elevation. The “night of world music grooves both composed and improvised with many of Asheville’s favorite musicians” is set for Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the LAB. The show includes percussionist River Guerguerian (pictured above; Free Planet Radio, The Billy Sea), multi-instrumentalist Chris Rosser (Free Planet Radio), ambient and jazz bassist Jake Wolf (The Billy Sea), composer Alex Caruso (Arundas, Nataraj), Renjith Iya (Arundas, Sangita Devi), bassist/guitarist Alvin Young (Wild Lotus Band) and others. Wednesday, Aug. 10, doors open at 6:30 p.m., show runs from 7-10 p.m. $10 advance here or $15 at the door.
