These days happen, in Asheville, with surprising regularity. When it seems like everything is happening all at once. There’s the local electronica showcase at The Orange Peel (a good bet if you want to see four great bands in one fell swoop); there’s a Hawaiian Luau Square Dance, sponsored by Southern Lights at the Whitmire Activity Building (Lily Pond & West Allen St.) in Hendersonville; there’s The Goodies at Stella Blue — original lineup, at that!

• Grace Gallery presents “Prophecy: New Paintings from Asheville-based contemporary painter Tom Pazderka.” An artist reception will be held at the Grace Centre Gallery (495 Cardinal Rd., Mills River, 2 Miles past Asheville Airport) on Saturday, Jan. 15, 7:30 p.m. Pazderka describes his work as delving “into the fields of alchemy, hermeticism, alternative science, history and archeology. …The Kabbalah and sacred geometry are new elements that I am exploring at the moment to give my work a new dimension. …The work is also an exploration of material and texture, color, or lack thereof.”
• The White Horse in Black Mountain is holding a Keep White Horse Kickin’ benefit show with a lineup including openers Al Petteway and Amy White, Levi Douglas, Jimmy Landry and Doug & Darcy Orr. 7:30 p.m., $20 suggested donation.
• Periscope Magazine releases its second issue, Points of Contact. According to the magazine, there are six good reasons to come to the 8 p.m. release party (at Haw Creek Forge, 2000 Riverside Dr., Asheville):

• Looking for a dance party? Nataraj performs just that (with a kind of cosmic, world-beat spin) at the LAB‘s back stage. 9:30 p.m., $5-$15 sliding scale.
• ”White Laces (above) most certainly pack a punch… and they pack that punch in a reverb Bigsby-style vibro-bar fist!” So says, well, White Laces themselves. The band makes a stop in Asheville in support of its “dreamy yet grimy garage pop eponymous debut EP which will be released on Jan. 18.” The band also wants you to know that you’ll like them if you like Women, Portugal, The Man, Cymbals Eat Guitars. They play Broadways at 10 p.m. Sundials opens. $6.
