About 40 miles southwest of Asheville, the 76th Brevard Music Festival is well under way. Tonight, three musicians from the seven-week fete visit the Asheville Art Museum’s new East Wing Gallery to perform solo and chamber works of The Three Bs — Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 for museum members, $10 for non-members.
Tonight’s performance is the second of three concerts in the Brevard Music Center Summer Festival Mini Series at the freshly revamped Asheville Art Museum.
The program includes Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor, performed by Justin Goldsmith; Sonata No. 2 for Violin and Piano in A major by Johannes Brahms, performed by violinist Lauren Roth and pianist Deloise Lima; and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Trio No.1 in E flat major, performed by all three musicians.
The June 26 concert included solo piano performances of Haydn, Schumann and others by Brevard Music Center summer program residents. The third and final concert takes place July 17 at 7 p.m. Program details are forthcoming.
