From the first thumping beats of “Local Anesthesia,” I was sold on The Plowshares. Of course, anyone who’s seen vocalist/guitarist David Earl Tomlinson playing downtown street corners with Mardi Gras drummer Imhotep has at least had to stop and try to make sense of the irreverent musical chaos and deep grooves they dish up.
The Plowshares are raw, bluesey and unstudied. They caterwaul, they howl and moan and put devious ideas in the minds of innocent bystanders.
Oh, and they’re playing the French Broad Brewery tonight at 5:30 p.m. Check out the happy hour show before getting on with your Friday evening.
