If you’ve lived in Asheville very long, you’ve probably heard mention of Vincent’s Ear (by someone who’s lived here longer than you) and how that venue hosted acts like Nemo (the rock band of Avett bros Seth and Scott, back before they were, you know, the Avett Brothers) and The White Stripes.
These days you can still catch the Avetts on giant stages, but since Vincent’s shuttered and the White Stripes officially disbanded, it was seeming like that opportunity was long past.
But just this morning The Orange Peel announced that half of the White Stripes — the Jack White half, on tour in support of Blunderbuss, which drops April 23 — will grace its stage on Saturday, May 19. Showtime is 9 p.m., tickets are $40 and available at noon this Friday.
You can watch White’s recent Saturday Night Live performance here.
Opening for White is super-buzzy band Alabama Shakes who packed the Orange Peel late last year. They’re well worth arrive early for. Read more Xpress coverage of that band here.
