Awesomely, the Kickstarter project to keep Asheville’s public darkroom open has met its goal. Before that happened this week, a pretty sweet benefit event was planned to help keep the community resource open and available, and it’s still on for Saturday at the Lexington Avenue Brewery.
The event’s lineup includes (in this order) Found World Bellydance, Hello Hugo, Kovacs and the Polar Bear and DJ Joynerd (Minori) and DJ Bath Salts (Cliff). There will be a silent auction and raffle as well, including things from Izzy’s Coffee Den, Copy Works of Brevard, The LAB, The Orange Peel (a pair of tickets to any show that’s not sold out), Troy & Sons Distillery, Highland Brewing, Harvest Records and French Broad Brewery.
Here’s a bit more about the event on Facebook.
Here’s a little more about the public darkroom:
The space is in the bottom of the Phil Mechanic Building, and hosts classes and workshops open to the public. Photos courtesy Bridget Conn, and made with the darkroom facilities.
