Master turntablist Kid Koala comes out to Club Metropolis (formerly 828) for a powerhouse show to benefit the pristine Panthertown Valley Nature Conservancy (specifically, Friends of Panthertown). The lineup doesn’t stop there: Panther God, Foul Mouth Jerk and Adam Strange and Agobi Project are part of the bill, along with Par Anha, Flypaper, Jiriki and Anemone. Come to dance, and see live painting from Dustin Spagnola, Clayton John and Chris King. Limited $10 advance tickets available at Harvest Records, after that, it’s $15 and you can get ‘em at http://www.underonebeat.com.
So, who lives at Panthertown? Bears, mostly, and they don’t have as much stomping ground as in years past. Panthertown Valley Nature Conservancy is more than 6,000 acres in the Nantahala National Forest where they can be left alone to conduct their bear business in peace. Some folks even call Panthertown the “Yosemite of the East.”
Check out these photos to get a feel for the area. Then check out Friday’s animal-themed show to support it.
