As the days grow longer and the sun shines a little brighter, many of us have our sights set on that first day of spring. The Mission for Temporal Art (MTA) in Marshall is also looking toward that seasonal benchmark. The newly formed arts organization will launch their Spring Equinox Extravaganza on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22.
The fundraiser is a two-day event hosted at the Mission for Temporal Art at the French Broad Institute in Marshall. A talented lineup of local musicians will perform on Friday, March 21, including Mark Hosler of Negativland, Ahleuchatistas, Xambuca and Meghan Mulhearn of Divine Circles. Co-founder of MTA and avant-garde performance artist, David Linton will also perform. The show begins at 8 p.m., and donations will be accepted.
On Saturday, March 22, visitors are invited to attend an open house from 2-6 p.m. During that time, Cilla Vee Life Arts will provide a structured “open floor” where dancers and musicians can “mingle and improvise together.” All are welcome to join.
Refreshments will be served and donations will be accepted at both events – the proceeds of which go towards the launching of the MTA’s regular programming. To learn more, visit themissionfortemporalart.blogspot.com.
