Has the dip in temps and the downhill slope toward October got you planning your Halloween costume? And you think, No, it’s still officially summer for another whole week. Well, Black Moth Super Rainbow has been thinking Halloween thoughts for probably years now, what with two Halloween-themed 7-inch releases under their belts and a new one (Marshmallow Ghosts, out Oct. 25) on the way. According to press, “they are doing something special this time around not only releasing a full length of spooky pop, but also packaging it into a full-length feature horror film Corpse Reviver No. 2 which looks legitimately unnerving.”

Want more of a preview? Go see Black Moth Super Rainbow for yourself. The experimental outfit from Pittsburgh plays The Grey Eagle on Friday, Sept. 16 (9 p.m., $12 advance/$15 day of show). They’re just back off a two-year hiatus, so they should be all rested and ready to crank out what they call “the organic aural concoction.” Dosh (electronic musician, percussionist for Fog) and so will The Marshmallow Ghosts, which is confusing because that’s also the name of Black Moth Super Rainbow’s Halloween album. And the Marshmallow Ghosts are also releasing an album. Self-titled. On the heels of two Halloween-themed 7-inches. So there you have it.
