What Los Angeles-by-way-of-Houston hip-hop artist Hyro Da Hero does comes not just from the lineage of rap but also from rock and metal. Revolver said he’s, “one of the few to break the norm and make rap rock from a genuine rap perspective.” Backed by a live band (Daniel Anderson of Idiot Pilot on guitar, Paul Hinojos of The Mars Volta on drums, Cody Votolat and Mark Gajadhar — both of Blood Brothers — on guitar and drums, respectively), Hyro Da Hero’s debut album, Birth, School, Work, Death was produced by Ross Robinson (Korn) and draws on influences of pop, punk, and (of course) hip-hop. He performs at the Orange Peel on Thursday, Aug. 4. Nu-metal act Hollywood Undead headlines. 8 p.m., $23 advance/$25 doors.
