According to management at the Orange Peel, would-be ticket buyers for the club’s nine-show Smashing Pumpkins “residency” swamped the ticketing service’s Web server, leading to a “major crash.”
The tickets went on sale yesterday at 1 p.m., but the server crash resulted in a suspension of sales until at least today and perhaps tomorrow, according to an update posted at the OP’s Web site last night. (Further updates are expected today.)
“The on sale time will be announced at least 4 hours prior to the on-sale and will not occur prior to Monday, May 21, at 6 p.m.,” the statement said. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.”
