One eskimO comes to the Orange Peel

You might not know them by name, but you know One eskimO‘s song “Kandi.” It’s the one where the guy with the rather haunting tenor sings “Baby, baby, baby all night long,” and you find yourself signing along, all melodramatic, despite yourself.  (Watch the video here:)

Actually, “Kandi” isn’t the only hooky-addictive song this London-based band has recorded. Thanks to the strange/lovely vocals of singer Kristian (pronounced “Christian”) Leontiou, the group’s poppy-shoegaze is immediately recognizable. (Toyota thought so when looking for music for its Prius commercial.) Check out “Astronauts” here:

Or hear One eskimO live; the band is on tour with Michael Franti & Spearhead and will open Franti’s Monday, May 24 show at The Orange Peel. 9 p.m., $25.
