Local artist Gus Cutty is finishing up a new mural of Lou Reed in front of Static Records in downtown Asheville.
Reed, a rock legend who founded the Velvet Underground, died Oct. 27 near his hometown of New York City.
Cutty’s mural honoring the musical pioneer is located at 110 N. Lexington Ave. The artist’s previous work includes a number of other striking public art projects, including murals of Popcorn Sutton and Hunter S. Thompson in West Asheville. Check out Cutty’s website here. He will soon present a new body of work at The Satellite Gallery (55 Broadway St.) – the show opens Nov. 1.
