With all three members acting as contributing songwriters, Uncle Mountain offers an eclectic take on melodic folk rock that’s reminiscent of early ‘70s outfits like Crosby, Stills and Nash. Like many local bands, the group got its start in Boone, where Ryan Furstenberg, Daniel Shearin and Ryan Lassiter studied at Appalachian State University. Lucky for us, the trio has called Asheville home since 2008. We caught up with the band, currently in the process of recording a new album, for a preview of its performance at LAMAfest this weekend.
