Need another escape from Bele Chere this weekend? The Drygoods Shop in West Asheville is happy to assist. On Saturday, July 28, the multipurpose community arts space hosts a two-year anniversary celebration with !Paper!, featuring a dozen local artists, live music and more.
All work in the show is made out of plastic. Just kidding; it’s all made with paper — that ubiquitous substance oft-heralded by artists for its accessibility and simplicity. The lineup, as eclectic as the shop itself, promises a wide breadth of creative perspectives, with local favorites like bookmaker Jean Potter, dressmaker/designer R. Brooke Priddy and beloved blogger/illustrator Robin Plemmons. The event will also include a performance by local artist/musician Andy Herod’s latest musical venture, Ghost Boots, at 7 p.m.
Free to attend. 6-9 p.m. 474 Haywood Road.
