I blame all this nice spring weather. You see, the past week has been an eerily quiet one on the Mountain Xpress forums, and the only obvious change is that it’s actually been pleasant enough outside to pull our “boarders” away from their computers. As many folks of the Internet set will tell you, nice weather is the anathema for casual online chit-chat.
Oh, the siren song of springtime. I give it another week before the novelty of a winter-free life wears off.
That’s not to say that there haven’t been a few highlights this week. For instance, there was a bit of good-natured fun in the Sound Off Buncombe Spot The Typo Game, where participants were encouraged to proofread the videos by the local conservative activism group. And there were plenty of partisan antics in threads about the Obama administration’s assassination policy and the recent admission by former presidential candidate John McCain that he was never a “maverick.”
On less political level, there was a short thread about home remedies for a dog with an ear infection. Meanwhile, forum regular Piff shared his loving appreciation for the humble hooded jacket. The debut of Matt Smith’s interpretation of an iconic BBC character served as a launching point for a discussion about the best Doctor Who era. And if those are too serious for you, there’s always the Who is eating what tonight? thread, documenting the dining habits of our forum community.
