Have a “Heartattack” with Lovett

Lovett has a special Valentine for his fans. It’s the launch of the video “HRTATTK” for his song “Heartattack.” For Asheville listeners it’s an extra-special treat, since the video was filmed in Asheville. At Echo Mountain. With a cast of local musicians and singers and dancers in prom attire.

Learning about Lovett is kind of tricky. The guy behind the name (Ben Lovett) seems to keep a low profile. His most forthcoming bio is at TheMusebox where, if you read all five paragraphs, you’ll learn Lovett is a family name that his grandfather said he could use. (You can also download the track “The Fear,” which is worth a listen.) Here’s what else we know: Ben Lovett is a Taurus, he lives in Athens, Georgia, he’s the founder of record label Lovers Label and he won “Best Score” at the Brooklyn International Film Festival for his work on The Last Lullaby.

But back to the Valentine’s Day release. “The clip for ‘Heartattack’ (the latest from his self-titled tour de force) doesn’t hurt Lovett’s cause. Boasting more entangled limbs than all-you-can-eat night at Red Lobster, and featuring blink-and-you’ll-miss ’em cameos from indie film actress Amy Seimetz and country star Dierks Bentley, as well as the abominable snowman, this is as close to a V-Day sure thing as most of us will ever get,” says MyOldKentuckyBlog.com.

Tonight, at 9:30 p.m., Sazerac holds a release party for Lovett’s video, “HRTATTK.”
