One night only, check out The Life of the World to Come, a performance film of the uniquely literate indie-folk-rock band the Mountain Goats, at the Fine Arts Theatre tonight.
Here are five quick reasons to go:
1. The Mountain Goats are known for intense and amazing live performances, and The Life of the World to Come is an acclaimed and mesmerizing album.
2. Rian Johnson made the film. He made Brick and The Brothers Bloom, both of which should be seen.
3. There’s potential for prizes. If you go, you could win a door prize — a signed posted from frontman John Darnielle, or a signed copy of the forthcoming DVD (which comes out on one of our favorite holidays, Record Store Day).

Shot in the same building where, as an eight-year-old piano student and new transplant to Claremont, he performed Bach minuets for the state examiner, The Life of the World to Come takes the songs from the album and restores them to their raw original states: skin, blood and bone.”
