Billed as part of a meditation on working toward new possibilities, EarthSyncHub.com will host a free screening of the landmark Concert for George at UNCA’s Owen Conference Center tonight. The film will be shown at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20.
The 2002 concert features Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and a 16-piece orchestra of Indian musicians, along with Ravi Shankar’s daughter Anoushka. The concert highlights the sense of possibility America needs now, according to its organizers.
Area students are encouraged to join UNICEF’s Campus Initiative: http://volunteers.unicefusa.org/activities/campus/. The UNICEF Campus Initiative is a growing grassroots movement rooted in a belief that college students have a vital role to play in helping the world’s children survive. Members of UNICEF Campus Initiative Clubs conduct campus-wide education, advocacy and fundraising activities to benefit UNICEF.
The Asheville screening of Concert for George is not officially associated with the George Harrison Estate or the United Nations.
