Odyssey Community School students have been dreaming of a new playground to pair with the school’s recently-constructed raised bed garden. While caviar and champagne are a little too Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous for your average kindergartener, most every child dreams of chocolate.
On Sunday, March 10, Odyssey will host its third annual silent auction fundraiser on the theme of “Dreams and Chocolate Trois.” The upstairs of French Broad Chocolate Lounge, 10 S. Lexington Ave., will host an array of treats and treasures from 2-4 p.m.. Silent auction items include LaZoom passes, Reiki sessions, gift certificates to Marco’s, Limones and Kilwins, along with one glorious homemade tutu.
The proceeds will go toward building an “enchanted garden” playground for the school’s pre-K program. This Swiss Family Robinson-inspired structure will compliment the school’s new garden. Additional funds will support the K-1 class’ art and science activities. A drawing of the proposed play structure is below, along with a .pdf of the playground’s transformation since 2010.
The fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2-4 p.m. in the upstairs room of French Broad Chocolate Lounge, 10 S. Lexington Ave. Free to attend; silent auction prices vary. Info: www.odysseycommunity.org.
