Looking for some Friday night entertainment with a purpose? Head to the Grey Eagle for a show from bluegrass/Americana artist Shannon Whitworth and you’ll be helping raise money for conservation organization WildSouth. You’ll also be helping celebrate the 20th anniversary of WNCW 88.7-FM.
WildSouth is an Asheville-based nonprofit dedicated to forest and ecosystem restoration and protection. A little history: The group was formed in 2007 when the Southern Appalachian Biodiversity Project (a regional nonprofit dedicated to empowering citizens to appreciate, defend and restore the native biodiversity of the Southeast) merged with Wild South (a grassroots forest protection organization based in Moulton, Ala. whose mission is to inspire individuals and groups to preserve, restore and enjoy the South’s natural landscapes).
And according to her current schedule, it’ll be at least a month before Shannon Whitworth graces Asheville again, belting out her smoky blend of roots, country, bluegrass and Americana.
Tickets to the show are $10 in advance, and $12 for day of show. More info here.
