• Author Carolyn J. Brown signs copies of A Daring Life: A Biography of Eudora Welty. Welty was Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and short story writer from Mississippi. She passed away in ‘01, but gave a number of readings in Asheville over the years. Brown’s event takes place Saturday, Dec. 1 at Malaprop’s. 3 p.m., free.
• Pisgah Press and Grateful Steps team up for a joint reading on Saturday, Dec. 1. Mike Hopping (MacTiernan’s Bottle), Sarah-Ann Smith (Trang Sen), and poet Donna Lisle Burton (Letting Go) will each read excerpts from and sign copies of their books. 5:30-7 p.m.
• “The mountains of the Appalachia abound with tales of ghosts and mysterious places,” says press for newly-released Appalachia Mountain Folklore by Michael Rivers. • The Friends of the Library announce a Twenty-Five Cent Hallway Book Sale at Pack Memorial Library (67 Haywood St.) on Friday, Dec. 7, 14 and 21. 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. According to a press release, “All items in the sale will be 25 cents.
