They shoulda called this event Boogies and Beer: Four of Asheville’s finest, hip-shakin’-est bands take the stage from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at McCormick Field. While that’s happening, festival-goers can sample more than 30 craft brews. Good times virtually guaranteed.
First up, the festive Firecracker Jazz Band. Then the soulful Kellin Watson takes the stage, followed by the exuberant Jar-E. The always raucous and rockin’ Woody Wood and Hollywood Red close out the evening. Each plays a 45- minute set.
The Asheville Tourists don’t actually play a game on Saturday. But included with the ticket price is a free general admission ticket to a future Tourists game.
Here are more details: The event is rain or shine. Must be 21 and older. Tickets prices range: $10 gets you a designated driver ticket, including festival admission and a free ticket to a future Tourists game; $20 gets you festival entrance, a tasting mug and the free general admission Tourists ticket; $30 gets you the same stuff plus a meal of either a hamburger, hot dog or BBQ sandwich; and the $40 VIP ticket is all that plus a commemorative T-shirt, catered meal and access to a clubhouse with private restrooms.
