Attention audiophiles: Asheville Soundswap’s got you covered.
Whether you’re into vinyl or CDs, krautrock or blues, or you just like to browse, the inaugural Asheville Soundswap from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Grey Eagle promises to please anyone with an ear for music, however it’s defined.
Asheville’s Harvest Records teamed up with local online music purveyor Tomentosa Records to bring in dealers from the region, says Harvest co-owner Matt Schnable. Response was “massive,” he said, with dealers signed up to bring in thousands of LPs, 45s and CDs — everything from punk and metal to psychedelic, funk, jazz, rock’n’roll and obscure noise.
“We kind of don’t know what all is going to be there, but we have a good mix of people,” Schnable says. “I feel like anybody can come out and enjoy the gathering and check everything out.”
Local DJs from WPVM will be spinning records all the while, and there will be plenty of food and drink available. Admission is free. If all goes well, Schnable says, he hopes Asheville Soundswap will become a biannual event.
