It is April, so the rains-it-pours deluge of world-class CD release shows shouldn’t be entirely surprising. In the next nine days, Asheville will get down for three-count-‘em-three brand-new records from three of the town’s fave bands.
Up first, indie-pop noir darlings stephaniesid have a new one—their fourth—called Warm People. The band brings its Wow live show (the sheer spectacle, the layers of lovely sound, the chills) featuring the Whoa-team choir and a host of other guests to the Grey Eagle on Saturday, April 25.
Doors open at 8 p.m. for the $10, all-ages show, with stephaniesid taking the stage at 9 p.m., Brooklyn’s Kaiser Cartel playing an interim set, and stephaniesid retuning at 11:10 p.m. (special guests for each set). Info at www.stephaniesid.com.
The next week, bluegrass phenoms Dehlia Low offer us Tellico, named for vocalist/fiddler/songwriter extraordinaire Anya Hinckle’s “Plains of Tellico.” The release promises to be a stompin’ good time on Thursday, April 30, also at the Grey Eagle. Just a few days after MerleFest, the band will be joined by Colorado-based Spring Creek.

Then on Friday, May 1, get ready, get down, get dirty with the long-awaited Pierce Edens CD. Long Days Above Ground launches at the Rocket Club—the all-new, year-in-the-making CD from one of Asheville’s most raucous alt-country bands.
Pierce Edens and the Dirty Work will also light up the stage with a group of guests, featuring members of Josh Phillps Folk Festival, Firecracker Jazz Band and more.
