Singer-songwriter Paul Edelman‘s best friend growing up (according to his bio), was a weeping willow tree. Even if that’s not true, it sounds like the premise for exactly the kind of thoughtful and pleasantly haunting song that Edelman writes. OK, maybe haunting isn’t the right word. His songs are steeped in Americana and folk traditions, worn in and road weary, and yet bolstered by the crispness of a cool breeze. And for all of those reasons they stick with the listener. Case in point: as-yet-unreleased song, “Great American Limbo,” performed with keyboardist Eric Ciborski as part of the Acoustic Asheville series.
