[Regarding “Closer to Compassion? N.C. May Inch Closer to Legalizing Medical Marijuana” June 1, Xpress:] I believe medical marijuana should be legal in North Carolina.
There should be commonsense laws that go along with it, but don’t make it difficult for citizens to buy it. I’m retired, and every person I know agrees.

Absolutely agree with legalizing it!! It’s a simple argument….would you rather be in a room full of drunks or potheads?? Easy !!!!
People who think marijuana should be illegal are the types of folks who don’t understand personal liberty. There is nothing wrong with a grown person who works hard and pays their bills partaking in marijuana and they should not be made by limitors of freedom to feel like criminals for smoking marijuana. Screw “medical” purposes. It’s a natural right of a grown up American. The fact that laws prevent citizens from handling their own business just proves the sophistry that America stands for freedom. These types of restrictive laws, that take away from personal liberty, are disgusting. This law in particular is used to ruin the lives of otherwise productive citizens of many walks of life, and obviously enforced in a way that perpetuates systemic, structural racism. It’s wrong to outlaw marijuana. Our country has been stolen by LLC’s and Moralists who don’t understand there must be room in a democracy for personal liberty. Live and let live. Stop pushing your version of “fine, upstanding citizen” on the rest of us. It’s bs.
