The band’s name is West Ivory Coast slang for “blend” — in this case the blend is “everything from African folk songs, to modern afropop, to the driving, pulsating rhythms of African drumming. Hints of rock, reggae and Latin music are also woven into the mix.”
Zansa includes vocalist and 33rd generation djembe player Adama Dembele (Afromotive), Ryan Riordan on bass (Afromotive), violinist Matt Williams (The Ocean), lead guitarist Andrew Robinson (The Summertime Whisky Band), rhythm guitarist Patrick Fitzsimons (solo), percussionist Shen Hunt (The Klavenauts) and Casey Dean (The Wellhouse Band) on drumkit.
