Roosevelt Collier and special guests at One Stop

Hot off his set with Toubab Krewe at last weekend’s Carnavalito, sacred steel player Roosevelt Collier (of The Lee Boys) performs at One Stop on Wednesday, July 18. Collier’s set includes “special guests” — and while Xpress doesn’t know exactly who that might entail, we have some ideas (feel free to speculate in the comments field).

“Soft-spoken by nature, south Florida-bred Roosevelt Collier does his hollering on the pedal steel,” says press for the show. “Brought up in the Sacred Steel tradition of the House of God Church, Roosevelt built his reputation playing with his uncles and cousins in The Lee Boys, known for their spirited, soul-shaking live performances.”

The blues, funk and soul show begins at 10 p.m.; tickets are $7. Xpress will give away a pair of tickets through Facebook at 1 p.m. today.
