Xpress Playlist: Sarcasm and sincerity

From Michael McFarland’s “A Sarcastic Tango” to Warm the Bell’s sweet “Little Bird,” this week’s playlist is an emotional roller coaster. Add to that “Fire,” by honorary local Langhorne Slim, and get ready for a rocking ride.

• “We Won’t Stop” by local rockers Black Robin Hero, from the EP, narrow plains. The band plays at The French Broad Brewery on Saturday, Aug. 9.

• “A Sarcastic Tango” by self-described “writer, rocker, biker, geek” Michael McFarland from his EP of the same name. McFarland performs at The Social on Friday, Aug. 15.

• “Fire,” by Langhorne Slim from the album The Way We Move. Langhorne Slim opens, solo, for Old Crow Medicine Show at Pisgah Brewing on Monday, Aug. 11.

• “Little Bird” by folk-rock outfit Warm the Bell from the album You Are the Sun.

• “Tip of My Tongue,” by local singer-songwriter David Wilcox, from blaze. He’ll perform at LEAF this October.

• “Ringbeat,” by alt-rock group Pawtooth from Arcadian Playground.
