Curly-haired girls get a bad rap. Wild, frizzy and out-of-control are just a few ways to describe a curly head of hair, but that’s no reason to wear a hat. Women with curly hair will display their waves with pride at Wink Salon on Sunday.
Lorraine Massey, author of Curly Girl, is coming to Asheville to set the spirals free. Curls Night Out will offer demonstrations, tips and product samples to tame the wildest manes.
Christine DiBenedetto, co-owner of Wink Salon says that Lorraine Massey transformed her outlook on hair. “She changed my life when I walked into her Devachan Salon almost 15 years ago,” says DiBenedetto. “Lorraine is the real deal, she is a groundbreaking, passionate businesswoman and has truly helped women all over the world love their hair. She’s a legend.”
Wink Salon co-owners Christine DiBenedetto and Gilda Santiago are curly girls themselves, so they know what they’re talking about. The salon encourages everyone, curly or straight-haired, to bring a friend and learn how to untangle their tresses.
Sunday, March 4 from 3-7 p.m. at Wink Salon, 18 Brook Street, Suite 103, in Biltmore Village. Free. Women interested in being models for the evening should call the salon at 277-4070 to be entered to win a spot in the demonstration chair. Info: www.ilovewink.com.
