This show sounds like a great time. It opens tonight at Push Skateshop and Gallery, on Patton Avenue in downtown Asheville.
I got a note from Patch Whisky a couple of weeks ago. He lives in Charleston (and paints every day by the ocean) but he’s been painting murals for a major motion picture starring Tom Cruise, he says, with a few other familiar faces from Asheville (Ishmael and Dustin Spagnola).
Tonight, he’s featuring paintings on canvas, spray cans, guitars, mannequins, skateboards, doors and parking meters. Yah.
The details, from the artist himself:
“Artist Patch Whisky is bringing it to the Push Skate Shop/Gallery July 15 with his newest series: The Legend of Rainbow Mountain. His work consists of funky-twisted creatures swimming in psychedelic madness. Some have compared his work to Disney World on a bad trip. Paintings on unconventional surfaces such as skateboards, surfboards, mannequins, parking meters, automobiles(if it can make the voyage) and furniture will be on display. Patch has also scooped up Atlanta based Cousin Dan to perform for this special evening! Cousin Dan was born a full grown man with a mustache that the ladies just couldn’t resist, equipped with spandex and lazer fingers!”
