Members of local steampunk group S.P.A.T.S. (SteamPunk Arts and Technical Society) posed for photos at the Wedge Brewery. Xpress photographer Chris Wood took the photos (not these) that run in our July 20 issue (with a complete photo gallery online) along with a story about sci-fi/fantasy authors Ann & Jeff VanderMeer, who will appear at Malaprop’s on Sunday, July 24. The VanderMeers are authorities on sci-fi sub-genre steampunk.

Personally I find the whole Steampunk thing ridiculous..and I’ve even participated in a few events. Though anything to make a few socially inept geeks feel like time-traveling superheroes is o.k. with me.
