Busking accordion player Madeleine Reidy may call Upstate New York home, but her musical travels brought her through Asheville earlier this week. Here, she performs her original tune “Little Girl” near the Chocolate Fetish on Haywood Street.

Really? Do I really need to drag up the old thread where I make fun of Old Crow, the NY ‘daddy’s college fund’ band who imperonsates Southern string band music? And the same thread where you stick up for them, SC? Stick to ghetto grit music, son.
Addendum- where do all those female ‘bandleaders’ who play um, passable guitar (only- real musicans can work more than 1 instrument) come from again who rope naive Asheville sidemen into playing for them again? Yep, Pete Seeger land. See you on “Rainbowquest”. Look that one up for some terrible carpetbaggerfolk.
Oops, I forgot, yon ringer who changes his name weekly, you ain’t from here either, S.C.. Stick to your Americana love affair with a band from NY who moved to Boone (Old Crow Medicine Show). Real low down roots music indeed.
BTW, Bill Monroe’s first full band after playing with his brother had a female accordionist. They also recorded on WWNC’s radio show in the 1930’s.
