Ok, I know the permits took a lot of work, and I know it’s not super easy for artists to haul all their materials downtown. But, the City of 1,000 Easels event (organized by the Asheville Area Arts Council), was a lot of fun. The weather was lovely, there really did seem to be an artist on every corner and some really cool pieces of art were created during the 3 to 6 p.m. event.
Kudos to all who were involved, to the arts council for organizing and to Zen Sutherland for his excellent photos of the action. So, when can we do this again?

It was a blast! Thanks to Graham Hackett for getting me a perfect spot out of the wind and the sun. Don’t know if you meant to do that or not. Sold some work, met a bunch of people, acted as ambassador to the Paris of the South and above all got out of the studio on a beautiful day. Let’s do it again.
Ditto.
This was one of the best free events I’ve ever experienced in Asheville. Gorgeous day all around. Cheers to everyone who made it possible.
