Beginning Tuesday, July 13, Wink Head & Threads salon and boutique (18 Brook St., Suite 103, Asheville, 277-4070) holds a once-monthly makeover. “Do you or someone you know need some TLC?” asks a press release. “Wink is here to the rescue … our Facebook friends decide who gets ambushed.”
Okay, the word “ambush” sounds kind of aggressive as in when fashion experts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly ambush unsuspecting sweatpant-clad victims in public places and humiliate them in to a What Not To Wear makeover.
Wink promises not to mean. “Nominate a friend (with her permission, of course),” begins the salon’s rules. You can also nominate yourself; either way, do so by friending Wink on its Facebook page. “On the second Tuesday of every month, you will have until the end of the day (5 p.m.) to submit a photo and tell us why you or your friend should be ambushed with a Wink Makeover.”
Next: “The lucky winner will be announced on the following Monday. They will then come to Wink, and the stylists get to choose the perfect color and cut.”
And one final rule: “Ambush Makeover candidates must be open to change. No trims. No boring color. Get ready!” So, no crying over bangs: Wink knows best!
