What’d you miss on the MountainX.com Forums this week? Let’s take a look.
What exactly is “The Asheville Experience”? Is it wandering around downtown, browsing boutiques? Is it a visit to the Biltmore Estate and a night at the Grove Park Inn? Is it a night out, drinking local brews while checking out the native music scene? Or is it, as forum poster boatrocker asserts, “Trying to find a decent paying job and weathering the highest rent in the state according to county”?
Is it any surprise that a full year into the Obama presidency, people are still unhappy with George W. Bush? This thread asks if anyone is willing to actually admit they ever voted for him. But poster Bugg has a more entertaining take: “I’ve never missed a chance to vote. In 2000, I think I wrote in Frank Zappa’s name to be snarky, and in 2004 I actually wrote in Pol Pot’s name.”
Although we’re a few weeks into the new year, it’s not too late to chime in with some 2010 predictions. Here’s just one of Ken Hanke‘s predictions: “The idea of Twitter will continue to annoy me. Related: I will hide the status updates of at least ten Facebook friends because I do not need to know that they just ate a bran muffin.”
Ever wanted to hear Bing Crosby sing “Hey Jude,” or Sammy Davis, Jr. perform his rendition of the theme from Shaft? Look no further than the obscure music thread. Just to give you a hint of what you’re missing, check out this video.
