Pack Square Park is hard to ignore, especially since construction on the new city facility is happening right in front of City Hall.
The Pack Square Conservancy says the project is mere weeks away from its official first opening, but during the four-year construction process, the park’s costs have increased drastically. Now, the conservancy will appear before Council to run the numbers. In a separate agenda item, Council will also consider an increase in fees for the park.
Also on the docket are recommendations on graffiti, litter and predatory parking presented by Council member and Chamber VP Kelly Miller, who headed up an action committee on the topics.
And Council will consider imposing eminent domain to install a water-pumping station at Weston Road as part of its water-improvement bond project. The city has been in negotiations with the property owner, but has hit resistance with a third-party lender, according to a staff report.
Speaking of water, look for an update on the progress of the economic-stimulus package, with city staff presenting a list of projects it thinks make good candidates for funding.
