The Hendersonville chapter of Business & Professional Women is a group of women who are dedicated to achieving equity for women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information. BPW is a nonpartisan organization seeking to support women both personally and professionally.
BPW is best known for its National Business Women’s Week activities. The group selects five local business women who have displayed exceptional ability in balancing work, life and family. The NBWW Award’s Breakfast is held to honor these women along with the Employer of the Year (an employer who offers options for working women that most employers don’t offer).
Events are on the horizon include Women’s History Month in March and Equal Pay Day on April 28. And through a variety of fundraisers, Hendersonville BPW hopes to be able to offer more than one scholarship this year.
Vice President Jennifer Duran says, “‘Better business women for a better business world’” was a NBWW theme in the 1920s, and I think it still sums up what we are all about.”
The Hendersonville group meets the third Thursday of each month at The Chariot in Hendersonville. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner/meeting/program. Cost is $12. Info: www.bpwhendersonville.org.
