Nukes on the road. It sounds like a summer blockbuster come early, but it’s actually the theme of a presentation to Asheville City Council concerning about the transportation of nuclear waste on interstate highways in and around the city. A group called Common Sense at the Nuclear Crossroads plans to ask Council for an ordinance prohibiting such transit.
Also on the agenda is a public hearing to discuss revisions to the city’s sign ordinance that would allow for advertisements on city buses, digital marquis and LED-lighted signs, and a conditional zoning for a proposed 261-unit Altamont apartment complex on Bleachery Boulevard.
Asheville City Council meets at 5 p.m. on the second floor of City Hall. For the complete agenda, go here.
