Arts 2 People is devoted to promoting the role of the arts as an integral part of our culture by serving the entire community through arts outreach, bringing the arts to those in need, supporting the careers of artists and through community cultural development. Some of Arts 2 People’s projects include the Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival, the REACH Programming series, the Asheville Mural Project, Faces of Asheville and Moving Woman.
Arts 2 People’s newest program, the Pritchard Park Cultural Arts Program, celebrated its inaugural event on June 20. Various local artists, musicians, dancers and hula hoopers will perform Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. through September in downtown Asheville’s Pritchard Park. There’s also an artists’ market every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The goal is to reconnect the community to what a public square can be,” states Program Director Kitty Love. “It is ideally a place that brings us all together for enjoyment of the unique experience of who we collectively are, and what we collectively create. It is a showcase for our talents, a stage where we can express our values and concerns, and a meeting place to recreate, refresh and rejuvenate our connections to each other.”
