A draft vision and goals for the Asheville Downtown Master Plan is complete, and those behind the effort want your feedback.
The public-feedback session will be held this Thursday, June 12, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Asheville Civic Center.
The consultant team working on the plan will present a draft vision and principles, which is the result of the Master Plan workshop held on May 31. There will be a presentation by the planners, followed by the opportunity for feedback and questions from attendees. The draft vision and principals will then be the basis for the final Master Plan, to be developed over the next three months.
If you haven’t been paying attention, the Downtown Master Plan is an initiative proposed by the Asheville Downtown Commission and funded by Asheville City Council. The commission envisions that the plan will help citizens, elected officials and city and county staff address more clearly the most pressing issues facing downtown today, namely booming development.
Following the June 12 meeting, a July public session will focus on the strategies for reaching the vision and goals of the plan. The full draft plan is expected to be presented for public input in September, followed by a presentation to City Council in October.
