Panic Fans for Food is a nonprofit organization that is “Feeding People through Music.” Based in Black Mountain, the organization is devoted to assisting the hungry by raising food and money at Widespread Panic concerts throughout the country. The group is currently spearheading a food drive at local music venues The Orange Peel, The Grey Eagle, The Garage at Biltmore, Hannah Flanagan’s and even Ophelia’s restaurant through New Year’s Eve. The organization asks that revelers donate two cans of food to be given to MANNA FoodBank when attending a musical event or dining at any of the aforementioned establishments.
Recently the number of food donations has been slipping in Western North Carolina as the need continues to grow. Help feed the hungry and celebrate the holiday season by attending Panic Fans for Food’s Christmas Party, sponsored by Greenlife Grocery, Friday, Dec. 14 at 9 p.m. at The Garage at Biltmore, featuring Motown veteran Ike Stubblefield and Friends. $10 in advance/$15 day of the show. Bring three cans of food and get $5 off the ticket price. All proceeds will go to MANNA FoodBank.
Founder Josh Stack says, “With donations to the hungry showing a decline in recent years, we thought it was a perfect time to get some musician friends, and the venues in which they perform, together to help feed some people. We’ve found that taking the cause to the people will yield results, and with Greenlife’s help we will be able to accomplish that goal much easier.”
