The city of Asheville is hosting a public-information meeting on the storm-water ordinance. So why should you care?
Whether your concern is retaining a strip of land on your property that could be barred from future development, ensuring that home-builders are controlling erosion, or protecting endangered Appalachian elktoe-mussel habitat, storm-water regulations are key. The city is currently considering revisions to its Storm-water and Erosion Control Ordinances, and this upcoming meeting will offer a briefing on what to expect and a chance to weigh in on the proposed changes.
“The current ordinances, adopted in August, brought the city into compliance with North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources regulations and strive to protect local water quality,” according to a press release sent by Asheville’s Transportation and Engineering Department. “Some provisions could impact the future development plans of landowners along streams.”

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Public Works Building (161 S. Charlotte St.), from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
